Secretary: Debbie Dundas
I became a member of MDOHG 2 years ago, shortly after moving to Dorking , and was elected in as Secretary in February 2009.
I began my nursing career in 1983 and by 1990 I was a Sister on the Regional Burns Unit in Roehampton. After a short career break to start a family, I reflected on my past nursing experiences and all the accident victims I had treated, many of whom were work related and decided upon a change of career direction to Occupational Health where I could adopt aproactive attitude to managing health at work and make a positive impact in the workplace.
In 1999 I completed my BSc in Occupational Health, which I studied at the RCN, and over the last 10 years have worked as an Occupational Health Advisor for several private companies in the City of London. I am now working back in the NHS for Surrey and Borders Partnership (a Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust) where dealing with stress at work, musculoskeletal disorders and longterm sickness absence are among the numerous challenges I face everyday.
Being a member of the MDOHG offers me much needed professional networking opportunities as well as providing a forum for essential up-dates for practice. The support of my fellow group members with the challenging issues and dilemmas I face is both essential and integral to my development and growth as an Occupational Health professional and my delivery of best practice Occupational Health to my clients.
