Study Day
MID DOWNS OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH GROUP
The MDOHG have a study day every year for its members and non members. In 2009 it was held on Thursday 25 June at the Reigate Manor Hotel, Reigate Hill.
In all 20 members and 1 non member attended the Study Day. The day started with a most helpful and well presented look at the health of skin in the workplace and Dr Helen Taylor from Enviroderm took the attendees on a focused journey through the current dermatological issues that face those of us who work in OH. The presentation went on to offer those present the opportunity to check how efficient their glove removing technique was and how well their skin was hydrated. All in all a really useful update on skin and the problems we need to be alert to in the workplace.
After a very pleasant lunch – the food is always good at the Reigate Manor Hotel – the attendees were given an update by Dr Steve Waters on the issues around the Flu Pandemic and the current state of alert.
And finally, those present were invited to enter into the debate with the invited panelists in addressing current OH issues of the day. The OH Question Time Panel was ably chaired by Julie de Groot, Senior OHA and she was joined by Eve Clennell, HR Director; Sue Le Cuirot, Specialist OH Provider; Dr Steve Waters, Occupational Physician; Rejeev Sekhon, GP.
Thanks go to all those who joined the MDOHG in making this Study Day another valuable contribution towards the effort we all need to put into keeping ourselves up to date with our current thinking and practice.
